Carl Wilson "Shorty" Bolen

Carl “Shorty” Bolen, 94, of Williston, South Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Aiken Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Born in Barnwell County, he was the son of the late Euly and Alma Renew Bolen. He was married to the late Betty Joyce Bolen. Shorty spent many years working as an electrician and in maintenance, retiring from Milliken. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army. He was a longtime member of Ashleigh Baptist Church.

Shorty loved the outdoors and found great joy in deer hunting, fishing, and riding his four-wheeler. Those who knew him will remember his deep appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of being outside.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Michelle) Bolen of Williston and Bruce (Tonya) Bolen of Barnwell; grandchildren Jamie Bolen of King George, Virginia, Austin (Jennifer) Bolen of Williston, Bailee (Mckaylin) Bolen and Colton Bolen of Barnwell; great-grandchildren Dillon and Bryson Bolen and Knox and Laytyn Bolen; a special niece, Vicky Bolen; and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ronald Bolen and James Bolen, and sister Gladys Birt.
