Carl Flannery ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lakes Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Carl Wayne Flannery Jr. was born March 6, 1955, in Richmond, KY. and departed this life at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years of marriage Sandra Marcum Flannery, two beloved children, Jason Wayne Flannery (Michelle) of McKee, KY, and Jennifer Michelle Flannery Wilson (Douglas) of Tyner, KY, and two adored grandchildren Braxton Maguire Wilson (Callie Ison) and Marley Brielle Wilson of Tyner.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Wayne Flannery and Jean Miller Flannery of Tyner, KY.Wayne was much more than an adored and beloved family man and friend, he was also an avid farmer, dedicated truck driver, and master heavy equipment operator. He continued to live by the motto of his papaw: "IF A JOB IS WORTH DOING, IT'S WORTH DOING YOUR VERY BEST".Wayne started building his passionate farming career at an early age, working alongside his dad and papaw on the Flannery farm. This is where he grew his love for the land and his many tractors. He took great pride in watching the crops be planted, grow, how it provided for his family, present and future. He made sure to instill hard work, honesty, and integrity into all he had and did.Continued by his "driven" nature, Wayne spent 20 years logging thousands of miles across our country. During his long stretches of being on the road, he enjoyed talking to people on his CB radio, laughing and telling stories of all sorts. Wayne could rest assured that he was always giving 100% and that he was making a difference with the work he was doing.Master operator of heavy equipment and loyal union man could also describe Wayne. Whether it was operating a small loader on the farm or a huge Caterpillar bulldozer in the steep hills of Eastern Ky and beyond. His commitment, loyalty, and work ethic gave him the opportunity to develop and perfect his craft as an operator. He created lasting friendships along the way. He often told stories of people he admired and learned from. He was blessed.Wayne was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Union Baptist Church.Memorial Services for Carl Wayne Flannery Jr. will be held on Thursday March 19, 2026, beginning at 1 P.M. with Rev.
