Carl Frederick Wilhelm, Jr.

Carl Frederick Wilhelm, Jr., age 87, of Albany, New York, passed away on March 7, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 5, 1939, in Reading, Pennsylvania, Fred was the son of the late Carl Frederick Wilhelm, Sr. and Esther (Kirkhoff) Wilhelm. He graduated from Penn-Bernville High School and went on to study at Pennsylvania State University. He served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1966. In 1961, Fred began his career as an engineer with General Electric in Schenectady, where he worked until his retirement in 1999.

Fred found great joy in life on the Great Sacandaga Lake, tending his garden, traveling, skiing, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Winifred P. Wilhelm; his son, Eric J. Wilhelm; his grandson, Adam J. Wilhelm; and his siblings, Jane Kline, Richard Wilhelm, Marge Shiner, and Dorothy Wagner.
