July 3, 1933— March 11, 2026
Warren, OH
Carl E. Ritch, 92, of Warren, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Otterbein Lake Vista.
Born on July 3, 1933, Carl was raised in Warren and graduated from St. Mary’s School. He worked at Thomas Steel before becoming co-owner of J&R Glass, where he retired. He took great pride in being able to identify the buildings where the windows his company had installed were located.
His greatest joy was the life he shared with the love of his life, Edith. They married on October 18, 1969, and spent 51 loving years together, traveling to 30 countries, exploring new places, and forming lifelong friendships. Active members of St. Thomas and St. Pius X churches, Carl and Edith participated in fundraising events, festivals, dances, and Friday fish fries. As members of the Clown Ministry, they brought joy to residents of nursing homes and hospitals. Carl also created palm decorations for St. Thomas’s Palm Sunday display and embraced his Italian-American heritage by serving on the first organizing board of the Warren Italian-American Heritage Festival and as decorations chairman for several years.
Carl was an avid fan of Ohio State and Northwestern football, attending many games with Edith, including those featuring his nephews. He and Edith also enjoyed following the Cleveland Guardians. In his younger years, he played tennis and served as president of the Warren Tennis Club. In retirement, he created beautiful stained-glass pieces and caned chairs. More recently, he found enjoyment playing bingo with fellow residents at Otterbein.
He is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews, along with extended family and many friends. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (D’Altorio); his parents, Joseph and Fannie Ritch; his brother, Albert (Rose, Jackie); and his sisters, Angelina Ritch, Sister Mary Mark Ritch, and Lucy (Joseph) Patrnchak.
