Carl Dale Schaeffer

Carl Dale Schaeffer, 84, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Lynn DiOrio Schaeffer, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage.

Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Rachel A. Ott Schaeffer. Carl proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine before building a long career in the automotive industry, where he began as a mechanic and advanced to service writer and service manager. He found simple joy in bowling tournaments, following NASCAR racing, and spending quiet time on the porch in the sunshine with his dogs.

In addition to his wife Teresa and mother-in-law Rose DiOrio, Carl is survived by his children, C. Diane Bunten, Phillip Kevin Schaeffer (Helen L.), Stephen Allen Schaeffer, Dorothea Anne Massey, William Matthew Schaeffer (Leany M.), Carl David Schaeffer (Julie), and Brandon Dale Schaeffer, as well as 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Cameron Schaeffer, and by three brothers, Richard, James, and Bud Schaeffer.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family and the peaceful moments spent at home.
