Vassalboro, ME
Caribel Marie Pelletier, affectionately known as Cabby, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Vassalboro, Maine, on March 10, 2026, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her daughter Judith in her final moments. Born on July 22, 1936, in Oakland, Maine, to Gladys Porter (Webb) and Oliver T. Porter, Cabby graduated from Williams High School in 1954. Soon after, she married Alberic Pelletier and settled in Winslow, where they raised their family together.
Early in her marriage, Cabby worked at Hathaway Woolen Mills in Waterville before becoming the bookkeeper and indispensable “Jill of all trades” for Alberic’s gas stations and garages in the Winslow, Fairfield, and Waterville area. A lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow, she found joy in reading, music, and the outdoors. She and Al cherished weekends, holidays, and vacations spent camping and fishing with their children around The Forks, Moxie Pond, and the 10,000 Acre Woods. In her late fifties, Cabby earned her motorcycle license and rode a Honda Shadow. She also enjoyed visiting casinos and playing the slots.
After selling the family business, Cabby and Alberic spent winters in Casa Grande, Arizona, eventually living there full time before returning to Maine and settling in Vassalboro to be near their loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alberic in 2018, and her sisters Dorothy Westerland, Joanne Christensen, Rachel Livingstone, Delphine Zimba, and Josephine Wheeler along with their spouses.
Cabby is survived by her children, Judith Rogde and her significant other Richard Russell, Peter Pelletier and his wife Sally, Randall Pelletier and his wife Erlile, and Jennifer Pelletier and her significant other Scott Reynolds; her grandchildren Brian Pelletier and his wife Victoria, Lance Pelletier and his wife Heidi, Scott Pelletier, Jasmine Morse (Pelletier), Jayde Pelletier, Jarrett Pelletier and his significant other Jorge Saldago, Allison Scopino (Rogde) and her husband Dan, Tasha Gregory, and Ernest Day; and nine great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Alberic at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
