Born on July 14, 1931, in LaSalle, Illinois, to Charles “Chub” and Myrtle (Gedye) Leason, Calvin married Ruth Ann Simpson on July 11, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Compton, Illinois. He is survived by his children Terry (Ron) Wilson of Grand Ridge, Toni Schueler of Ottawa, Peggy (David) Achenbach of Arizona, and Chuck (Sue) Leason of Plainfield; grandchildren Erin (Mitch) Nettleingham, Sara (Josh) Lowman, Jared and Rachel Achenbach, Diana (Eddie) Otstott, and Bill Schwartz; great-grandchildren Allie and Eli; and his sister Ethel (Gene) Pfeifer of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann; his parents; and his son-in-law Brent Schueler.
A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Calvin retired as a Teamster with Local #722 out of LaSalle. He proudly served in both the Army and Navy during the Korean War. In his younger years he was active in the Illinois Valley Idlers car club, the Ottawa American Legion Post 33, and the Civil Defense Squad. Calvin was an avid bowler and golfer who cherished his Chicago White Sox and Bears. He could often be found mowing his lawn on his beloved John Deere or riding his scooter to the HiWay Restaurant. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his loving family.
