Bural Frank Mitchell

1940 — 2026

Cleburne, TX

Bural Frank Mitchell, 85, of Cleburne, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Fort Worth. Born on October 20, 1940, in Cunningham, Texas, to Levi Thomas Mitchell and Nonie Melba (Hume) Mitchell, he grew up on a farm in Franklin, Kentucky, where he cared for livestock, tended crops, and gathered the stories that would later delight his family.

He married Nettie Ruth Jenkins on July 3, 1965, in Paris, Texas, and was a longtime member of Field Street Baptist Church. Over the years Bural worked as a factory worker, meat packer, shoe salesman, tree company foreman, insurance salesman, and culinary staff member. He was an avid gardener and, above all, a devoted husband and father whose greatest desire was to provide for and protect his family. A gifted storyteller, he loved recounting tales from his youth, including colorful memories of being chased by a protective sow and kicked by a milk cow. He also cherished reading, especially the novels of John Grisham and Louis L’Amour, and could recall their plots in vivid detail.

Bural was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nettie, his son Marvin Andrew Mitchell, and his brother Billy Mitchell.

He is survived by his brother Andy Mitchell, his sister Lisa Nichols, his sons Philip Irving Mitchell and wife Kristin, and James Thomas Mitchell, and his grandchildren Noelle Mills and husband Matt, Nathanael Mitchell, Grace Mitchell, and Adrien Kruppenbacher.
