Buenaventura Seiton ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 9, 2026.Buenaventura Belnas Seiton, Jr., MD, age 91, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at The Landings in Batavia. He was born on November 24,1934 in Talisay a province of Bacolod, Philippines to his loving parents, Leonila Belnas and Buenaventura Seiton. Ben married Dr. Elsa Ciocon on June 2, 1962, who preceded him in death. He is survived by their loving children, Brian Seiton and his wife Michelle of Batavia and Brenda Seiton and her husband Michael Landau, of Atlanta, GA. and his sister, Renee Delacruz (Noly). Ben and Elsa had three devoted grandchildren Daniel (Elizabeth, fiancée), Nicole Baker (Connor), Jack Landau, and great grandson, Stryder Baker. He had many cousins, sisters and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.Dr. Seiton received his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. After finishing his internship in the Philippines, he came the United States in 1960. He completed his residencies at the Hospital of St. Anthony de Padua and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago. Ben was a Urologist and Surgeon and had a private practice in Elgin. He held physician privileges at Sherman Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital, where he also served as President of the Medical Staff in the 1990s. He was highly respected by his colleagues and adored by his patients. Dr. Seiton was a founding member of the Association of Philippine Practicing Physicians. He was active in the Kane County Urological Society and his churches, St. Peter Damian in Bartlett and Holy Cross in Batavia.Ben was an avid sportsman, fisherman, supporter of the arts, and jokester. He loved playing basketball and tennis. Once he retired from his practice, Ben could be found on the courts 3-4 days a week for at least 3 hours each day. He loved sharing the love of games with his children and grandchildren, for whom he always made time to support. He could consistently be found on the sidelines and bleachers watching his children's and grandchildren's games and music performances. He and Elsa loved attending concerts at Ravinia, Grant Park, the Chicago and Atlanta Symphonies, and Emory University. They also loved traveling and arts. Ben was an expert griller and chef. His meals were feasts full of great stories, food, and spirits. Of course, if the meal included the fish or crabs he just caught, you know it would be the most amazing meal of your life. He passed down his love of cooking and gathering people together to his children and grandchildren. Ben was a devoted friend and advisor to many. He was extremely royal, honest, and gracious with all. Using humor to keep everything light, he never lost focus on family, friends, or integrity. We wish to thank all of Ben's caregivers at The Landings in Batavia along with the doctors and healthcare staff at Northwestern Medicine and Emory Healthcare.A private prayer service was held for the immediate family on March 10, 2026, and a celebration of his life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember the best time you had with Ben and consider a donation to the charity of your choice or The Landings Employee Appreciation Fund in honor of "Doc Ben," as the staff called him. Please makes checks payable to:The Landings Employee Appreciation Fund, add memo Dr. Ben #24.Mailing address:The Landings Senior LivingAttn: Tony Goodman2450 W.
