Genoa, IL

Bryson Dean Harris, 11, of Genoa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Born on October 15, 2014, in DeKalb, he was the son of Joshua Storey and Jessica Harris.

Bryson was a boy full of light, personality, and joy. He loved riding his bike, playing basketball, listening to rap and hip-hop music, dancing without inhibition, and expressing himself through his distinctive hairstyles. He cherished his cat Toast and spent many happy hours playing Roblox, where his creativity and imagination shone brightly. Though his time on earth was far too brief, the love, laughter, and memories he shared will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Even in his passing, Bryson continued to be a hero through organ donation. His selfless gift has given five other children a second chance at life, with his right kidney going to a recipient in Illinois, his left kidney to Minnesota, his liver to Ohio, his right lung to Ohio, and his heart to Ohio.

He is survived by his mother, Jessica Harris; his father, Joshua (Amanda Bankes) Storey; brothers Joshua Jr., Braxton, and Jace Utley; grandmother Sharon Allen; grandparents Marcia and Greg Bankes; uncles Shawn Harris and Jason Bankes; great-uncle John (Judy) Szabo; and second mother Amy (Matt) Anderson along with her daughters Maddison, Kyleigh, and Brooklynn. He was preceded in death by his papa, David Allen; his sister, Kyndra Storey; uncle George Szabo Jr.; and great-grandfather George Szabo.
