Highland, UT
Bryan Young Weight was born on September 6, 1953, in Huntington Park, California, to Robert Hogan and Charlotte Young Weight. A true Southern California boy, he spent his youth surfing, swimming, and playing water polo, cherishing days at the beach with his brother Willis and friends.
Throughout his life, Bryan was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Eastern States Mission in 1973, spending much of his time in New York City, where he found deep joy in sharing the gospel and serving others. On a snowy December day in 1977, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Hall, in the Manti, Utah Temple. His wife and children were the center of his world; he faithfully attended soccer games, track meets, daddy-daughter dances, helped with homework, and went hunting with his sons. He is remembered for once surprising his family—and his wife—with a six-foot pet snake.
In addition to his dedication to family, Bryan’s greatest purpose was testifying of Jesus Christ. He spent years carefully compiling and composing his thoughts, eventually publishing a three-book series titled Jesus, The Messiah. Professionally, he worked as a civil engineer for a large construction company before running his own home inspection business, often recognized for driving his Honda Civic with giant ladders strapped to the top. He later expanded into forensic engineering consulting, where he took satisfaction in solving problems for homeowners and companies.
In retirement, Bryan and Charlotte served together as service missionaries at Camp Alpine in Oregon. He became the camp’s dedicated handyman, fixing buildings, mowing lawns, and clearing more than a hundred fallen trees with a chainsaw during their first year. The camp also became a beloved gathering place for his grandchildren. Bryan passed away on March 11, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; their children, Sarah (Brandon), Hannah (Josh), Hyrum, and Trace (Niki); eleven grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Charlotte, Elena, Jack, Jasmine, Kaden, Kalia, Kyler, Becky, and Savvy Jo; and his siblings, Willis (Stephanie), Marian (Brian), Renea (Reo), Beverly (Jeff), and brother-in-law LaMar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Charlotte, and his sister Ellen.
