He was predeceased by: his parents, R. T. Brooks and Betty Jean Brooks; his son Jon Michael; his former wife Judy Howard; and his brother Glenn.

He is survived by: his friend Martha Parrish Calvert; his sons, Bruce Brooks II and Brian Brooks; his fiancée Martha Calvert; his brother Steve Brooks; his sister-in-law Patty; his brother David Brooks; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley of Australia and Kay Brooks. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home (312 Washington St, Frankfort, KY 40601). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 16th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
