Bruce Waylon Barnes, of Inman, passed away March 9, 2026, at SRMC. He was born February 27, 1954, in Spartanburg and was the son of the late Ralph and Nelda Barnes.
Bruce was the loving husband of 35 years to Dana Barnes of Inman. He is also survived by his stepson, Elijah Rhodes of Chesnee, and his wife, Amanda Rhodes.
He is survived by two step-grandsons, Kane Cantrell of Simpsonville and Kole Sparks of Chesnee.
Additional survivors include his brother, Keith Barnes of Inman; his sister, Violet Spencer of Gaffney; and nieces: Rolanda Spencer, Tamara Atkins, both of Gaffney and Josette Emily Barnes of Inman, SC.
Bruce graduated from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind and later attended Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. He retired from the United States Postal Service.
He was a big fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Boston Celtics.
Bruce enjoyed being involved in deaf sports activities and traveling throughout the United States before becoming paralyzed in 2009. He also loved reading the Bible.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary Boiling Springs Chapel.
