Bruce E Neal Sr

Bruce E. Neal Sr., 68, of Cairo, New York, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born on March 19, 1957, to the late David and Gertrude (Benjamin) Neal of Lanesville, New York, Bruce graduated from Hunter-Tannersville School in 1975. He spent many years working for the Town of Hunter Highway Department until his retirement in 2020. He was also a longtime member of both the Lanesville and Tannersville Fire Departments.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lenore Neal; his three children, Dawn (Steve) Ellsworth, Stacey Neal, and Brucie (Isabella) Neal Jr.; his stepchildren, Lori Decker, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Decker, and Rachel Byrne; five grandchildren, Mya, Ivy, Joey Jr., Roman, and Gemma; and one great-granddaughter, Mooni. He is also survived by his brothers David Jr., Kenneth, Gerald, and Dale (Tonya) Neal, his sister Nancy (Gary) Holgate, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother William (Billy) and his sister Elizabeth (Liz) Neal.

Bruce cherished the stories of his life in Lanesville and throughout the Mountain Top. Known for his humor and warm personality, he was the kind of person who would always pick up the phone with a cheerful “Hey kiddo.” His family and friends will miss his laughter and the steady presence he brought to their lives.
