Brook Lynn Black

May 18, 1938 March 12, 2026

Noblesville, IN

Brook Lynn Black, 87, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed peacefully at his residence on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 18, 1938, in Kosciusko County, Indiana, Brook was raised by his parents George and Vera (Arter) Black. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School, where he played basketball and baseball. On June 19, 1959, he married Loretta Young at the Akron Church of God. Their marriage of more than six decades was built on deep commitment, hard work, and shared adventures.

Brook began his career assisting at Haupert Funeral Home in Akron before spending twenty years in insurance sales with First Equity Life Insurance. He later enjoyed a successful second career as a Realtor with Prudential and earned his real estate, insurance, and pilot’s licenses. A dedicated Mason, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne, as well as Masonic Lodge No. 73 in Warsaw, where he served as Past Master. He was also a member of Castleton United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

An active and adventurous man, Brook loved golfing, water skiing, and, in his younger years, tap dancing—even performing on television while tap dancing on roller skates down a set of stairs. He and Loretta cherished traveling together, enjoying memorable cruises and trips to Hawaii, Europe, and Alaska. He took great pride in maintaining his home and property with careful attention to detail and enjoyed returning to the Warsaw area to visit the family farm, now home to the Tippecanoe Valley School campus.

Above all, Brook will be remembered as a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always checked in on the people he loved. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Black of Noblesville; his children, Brent Black, Cheryl and her husband Jack Schinderle, Vonda and her husband Vincent Recinto, Rhonda and her husband Donny Golden, and Todd and his wife Erin Black; bonus daughter Debbie Applegate and her husband Chris Denny; his grandchildren, Caitlin Golubski and her husband Frank, Madison Black, Brandon Black, Riley Schinderle, Rudy Schinderle and his wife Yessica, Danika Golden, Dacoda Golden, Joseph Golden, Cleo Recinto, Samara Black, and Adelyn Black; his great-grandchildren, Lilah, Barrett, Eleanor, Anderson, and Luna; and his sister, Susan Priest.
