October 4, 1968— March 10, 2026
Oregon, OH
Brian Timothy Jones, known to all as BJ, passed away on March 10, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center at the age of 57. Born in Willoughby, Ohio, to Jesse and Betty Jones, he grew up playing sports at South High School, where he became a record-setting soccer player for the Rebels. He graduated in 1986 and went on to earn a degree in Business Finance from the University of Toledo, where he found a second family with the Birminghams on the softball field. BJ built a long career in public service with the Lucas County Auditor’s Office and later the Wood County Auditor’s Office before retiring in 2025. He then joined Vision Government Solutions, where he continued to serve with the same dedication that defined every part of his life.
In 2003, BJ married the love of his life, Jeanna Sendelbach, at Holland Gardens. Together they raised three children—Tyler, Ben, and Lindsey—and built a home centered on family, coaching, and community. He was a proud father-in-law to Amanda Bartley Stoldt and grandfather to Colt and Paisley Stoldt. A natural coach and teacher, BJ spent countless hours on fields, courts, and driveways guiding not only his own children but countless others in soccer, baseball, softball, golf, and whatever sport they wanted to learn. He learned handyman skills from his father-in-law, Dick Sendelbach, which he and Jeanna put to use through their real estate business, Tybensey, named in honor of their children. When he wasn’t coaching or working on a project, he could often be found watching the Browns, Buckeyes, or Cavs, though he always preferred time with his family above all else.
BJ was a man of serious purpose and an infectious, unserious sense of humor. His big laugh, warm smile, and genuine generosity turned strangers into friends and friends into family. He opened his home each year for the neighborhood’s best Fourth of July party at what he fondly called the Jones Estate Pitch & Putt Golf Course & Campground—his backyard—complete with an annual fireworks competition. He loved a cold beer on a hot Sunday afternoon after yard work, listening to the Casey Kasem Throwback Countdown, and he loved even more the people who shared those simple moments with him. If BJ loved you, he loved you forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Betty Jones; his father-in-law, Richard Sendelbach; John and Patricia Birmingham; his sister-in-law, Vanessa Jones; and his dearest friends, Bobby Birmingham and Steve Wagner. He is survived by his wife, Jeanna; children Tyler (Amanda), Ben, and Lindsey; grandchildren Colt and Paisley; siblings Patty (Jones) Williams, Janet (Jones) Allison and her husband Blaine, Mark Jones, and Doug Jones and his wife Kim; and the extended Sendelbach and Birmingham families who loved him as their own.
