BRIAN LYNN SMITH

Brian Lynn Smith, 61, of Sebastian, Florida, passed away on March 16, 2026. Born on December 18, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, to Ronald D. Smith and Patricia Joseph Kurth, Brian grew up in Illinois before moving to Hollywood, Florida, as a preteen. He lived there through his teenage years with his father and stepmother.

Brian was a devoted husband and father. He married his wife, Trina Hearndon Smith, on August 10, 1996, after a two-year courtship, and they shared 29 years and seven months together. He was a loving father to his children, Christine Smith of Live Oak, Florida, Joshua Smith (Maggie) of Fellsmere, Florida, Ronald Smith of Sebastian, Florida, and his nephew whom he raised as a son, Vince Smith of Ocala, Florida. Brian created countless cherished memories through annual family vacations, weekend trips to the races, and extended fishing excursions that often included his brothers and other relatives. He had a lifelong passion for surfing in his younger years, fishing, NASCAR, and the Florida Gators sports teams. At home, he enjoyed working puzzles, playing games, hosting family cookouts, and sharing laughter with those he loved.

A respected professional in the drywall industry, Brian began working at a young age alongside his father at R.S. Construction & Drywall. He learned the trade by observing blueprints and techniques, eventually becoming known for his deep knowledge of commercial construction, fire ratings, and load-bearing walls. In 2008, he founded his own company, Smith Construction & Drywall, and continued working until his health no longer allowed. For the last 13 years of his life, Brian and Trina found joy in their regular weekend escapes to Lopez RV Park in Oak Hill, Florida, where he loved to shrimp, fish, and crab. He took great pride in providing fresh seafood for his family and was an excellent cook, especially known for his flavorful chowders.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Ronald D. Smith, and his grandparents, Roy and Florence Smith, and Tony and Ester Joseph, as well as his stepsister, Teresa Smith. He is survived by his wife, Trina; his children and their families; his mother, Patricia Joseph Kurth; his stepmother, Norma Smith; his brothers, Kevin and Phillip Smith; his sister, Kelly Smith; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and nine grandchildren: Jaden, Emma, Amber, Mylz, Kendra, Adrian, A.J., Gabby, and newborn Brian. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
