Brian Carbaugh ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Mar. 10, 2026.Brian Douglas Carbaugh, 63, a resident of Elkins, slipped away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with his family by his side. Brian had leukemia and fought hard till the end.Brian was born Thursday, July 5, 1962, in Hanover, PA, a son of the late Frances "Frank" Carbaugh and Barbara Smith Carbaugh Fancher who survives in Maryland.Brian is survived by his best gal and wife of twenty years, Brandi; his mom, Barbara Smith Carbaugh Fancher of Maryland; his children, Ben, Garrett, Kate, Kyrsten, Devan, and Zahra all of Elkins; grandchildren, Elena, Oakley, Jasper, Arayaa, Orion, Maverick, and Rayda.Preceding him in death besides his father was stepfather, Jack Fancher.Brian attended and obtained degrees from St. Johns at Prospect Hall, Gov. Thomas Johnsons High School, Capitol College, and Colorado State University Global. He served our country in the Navy as an Electronics Technician, Active Duty 1981-1987, and Reserves from 2001-2006. A proud United States Navy veteran, Brian served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of service into every aspect of his life. He worked for the FBI in Clarksburg an IT specialist and recently retired due to health reasons. Prior to his employment with the FBI, Brian had been employed as an electronics technician, a telecommunications and network engineer, and an applications system analyst. Brian lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.Family was important to Brian. He made several trips to California, Maryland, Virginia and other places to stay in touch with extended family members. He was a runner and participated in several races annually, often supporting cancer research in honor of his dad, Frank. Brian ran 50 miles in the 24-hour cancer run. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. His last trip was to Colorado to visit Ben on his mission. He was excited to see Ben and give him a big hug. When he was stationed in San Diego with the Navy, he jumped off the cliffs at La Jolla! He could make you laugh with the most random movie quotes and gifs. Brian loved his dog Kratos and his cat, Buddycat. They were often by his side when he worked from home. Brian had a heart of gold and was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 am until 11 am, the funeral hour. Bishop Jon Oringdulph will officiate and interment will follow in American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery in Cravensdale.
