Wausau, WI
Brian Bessette, age 59, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Born on September 12, 1966, in Wisconsin, Brian was the son of Clayton and Janice (Zeinert) Bessette. He lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to his family and friends. As a self-employed entrepreneur, he worked with unmatched dedication and was always the first to offer help to anyone in need, showing a generosity and compassion that touched many lives. Brian embraced each day with genuine zest, creating moments that inspired those around him.
He was a proud and devoted father to Alex (Kourtney) Bessette, Ryan Bessette, Lily Bessette, and Jack Bessette. His roles as son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather brought him his greatest joy. He treasured the lessons, laughter, and memories shared with his loved ones, especially the adventurous days spent fishing, hunting, and camping with his children—traditions that became the heart of their family life.
Brian’s vibrant personality shone through his many hobbies. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found peace and excitement in the outdoors, always valuing the time spent with family more than the activity itself. He was a skilled cribbage player known as a “cribbage shark,” a strategic chess enthusiast, and an avid reader. A devout Christian, he shared stories that brought laughter and light, gently reminding others to find hope even in difficult times.
Brian is survived by his mother, Janice Northcott; his children and five grandchildren; his brothers Craig (Shelly) Bessette, James Bessette, and Andrew (Emily) Bessette; and his sisters Kari (Doug) Weisshahn and Kristi (Phil) Harms. He also leaves behind cherished aunts Bonnie Matz and Marianne (Perry) Theix, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Bessette; his stepmother, Dorothy Bessette; his stepfather, William Northcott; his grandparents; Aunt Jane Maki; and Uncle David Zeinert.
Brian leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
