Brian Alan Lewis passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 26, 1960, he was the son of Paul and Mary (née Wukitsch) Lewis. Brian grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago, graduated from Hubbard High School, and earned an associate’s degree from Richard J. Daley College. He carried the values of hard work and education with him throughout his life, always striving to provide for his family and serve his community.
Brian dedicated 25 years to public service with the City of Joliet Police Department. A proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, he served with quiet courage and steady resolve until his retirement in 2014. His years in uniform reflected a deep sense of duty, honor, and commitment to protecting others.
Family was at the center of Brian’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Terri (née Shaw) Lewis, who was his steadfast partner through every season of life. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love, values he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sons, Kevin (Alexis) Lewis and Christopher (Bridget) Lewis; his three cherished grandsons, Hudson, Beckett, and Quinn Lewis; his father, Paul Lewis, Sr.; his siblings, Paul (Debbie) Lewis, Mike (Sandy) Lewis, and Diane Lewis; his cousin Christy Fry; his mother- and father-in-law, Gail and Lee Shaw; his brother-in-law, David (Melanie) Shaw; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (née Wukitsch) Lewis.
