Salt Lake City, UT

Brett Martin Lytle, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on March 1, 1987, to Curt Lytle and Cathie Lytle, he arrived just twenty seconds before his twin sister, Julie Lytle Obert—a fact he proudly held over her for life.

From early childhood, Brett’s curiosity and mechanical aptitude were unmistakable. He was drawn to trains, planes, and automobiles, often found completely absorbed beside his train set. That fascination stayed with him as he grew, leading him to work on cars, pursue his dream of becoming a pilot, and develop a natural talent for fixing anything he touched. If he did not know how to solve a problem, he learned. Known as “Mr. Fix It,” he patiently guided siblings, friends, parents, and even strangers through challenges with confidence and generosity.

Brett proudly served in the United States Air Force, where his love of mechanics, aviation, and problem-solving found purpose. His service deepened his discipline, loyalty, and commitment to helping others. In later years he embraced new adventures, particularly rock climbing, finding joy in challenge and the satisfaction of reaching the top.

Above all, Brett’s greatest joy was being a father to his sons, Liam and Beckham. He filled their lives with fun and adventure—dirt biking, camping, amusement park rides, and trips to Home Depot and Lagoon. He cooked for them, especially his wings and pulled pork sliders, built Legos with them, taught them construction skills, and created countless joyful memories through games, movies, and holiday traditions. He is survived by his sons Liam and Beckham; his parents Curt and Cathie Lytle; his siblings and their spouses Julie (Dustin) Obert, Kelley (Chris) Marusich, Grady (Stefanie) Lytle, and Hunter Lytle; and his nephew Richard Lytle. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, humor, and unwavering willingness to help.
