Jemison, AL
Brenda Sue Hyche Shryock, known to most as Sue or Mrs. Sue, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 8, 1953, in Bessemer, Alabama, to Leroy Adrian Hyche and Laura Evelyn Hyche Wingard, she graduated from Chelsea High School and built a life centered on family, friendship, and quiet service to others.
For 35 years, Sue worked at Walmart, where her caring spirit, warm smile, and willingness to help left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. She had a deep love for flowers and took great joy in planning family gatherings and keeping loved ones connected. Taking care of others came naturally to her, and she spent her life making sure those around her felt supported and cherished.
Sue is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Shryock; her children, Timothy Shryock, Jason Shryock, John Shryock and his wife Holly, and Joseph Shryock; and her beloved grandchildren, Lilly and Jack. She is also survived by her siblings, Carolyn Hodges and David Hyche and his wife Amy, as well as her nieces and nephews, Tabitha Harris, Frankie Hodges Jr., Whitney Arnold, Abigayle Hyche, and Horten Hyche. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers-in-law, John Robert Shryock and Frankie Hodges Sr.
Sue will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to family, and the many quiet ways she showed love to everyone she knew. Her gentle presence and generous spirit remain a lasting gift to all whose lives she touched.
