Weaverville, NC
Brenda Ray Reavis of Weaverville, North Carolina, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Affectionately known as Nana and also as Aunt Bea, she was born on March 3, 1943, to Maunt J. and Pansy Hensley Ray of Mars Hill. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For many years she and her husband Don faithfully taught children’s Sunday School and sang in the choir at First Baptist Church of Murphy, North Carolina, and Flat Creek Baptist Church. Brenda had a deep love for flowers and beauty in all its forms and took great joy in interior decoration. She especially cherished decorating for Christmas and Easter and looked forward each year to traveling with Don to Charleston, South Carolina, in the fall. She also loved a good meal, with Italian food holding a special place in her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Reavis, and her brother, Clyde Ray.
She is survived by her son, Joseph D. Reavis and his wife Susan; granddaughters Amanda Williams and her husband David, and Sarah Gillespie and her husband David; great-granddaughter Kate Gillespie; brother Danny Ray and his wife Kim; sisters-in-law Mildred Ray, Helen Coyle, and Margaret Revis; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
