Brenda Moore Overton

Brenda Moore Overton, 78, of Tarboro, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born in Wilson County, North Carolina, on November 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James Grady Moore and Gertrude Matthews Moore. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl Moore and Carson Moore, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Heath.

Brenda carried herself with grace and elegance, blessed with an impeccable sense of style and a natural beauty that reflected her gentle spirit. She possessed a remarkable green thumb and found deep joy in gardening, tending her flowers, and spending peaceful hours outdoors. For many years she offered dedicated service at Barnhill Contracting Company, where she formed lasting friendships. Above all, her greatest happiness came from her family. She cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother, delighting in every moment with them. Brenda also held a special love for the beach, where she found relaxation and created many of her most treasured memories.

She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Kenneth “Ken” Overton, Jr.; her daughter, Sherri Harrell Lewis; her grandson, Austin Drake Turner; her great-grandchildren, Wade Robert Turner and Arya Lynn Turner; her brothers, Billy Moore (Kay), Mac Moore (Joann), Robert Moore (Lori), Randy Moore (Pauline), and Danny Moore; her sister, Virginia Heath; and several nieces and nephews.
