Linn, KS
Brenda Jolene Reith, 72, of Linn, passed away on March 11, 2026.
Born on September 10, 1953, in Marysville, Kansas, to Willis “Gene” and Norma (Behrens) Flear, Brenda was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Barnes. She graduated from Linn High School with the class of 1971.
On September 10, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, Dewain Reith, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Together they built a loving home and raised two children, Brandon and Holly. Brenda began working part-time at The Moore Agency in December 1982, preparing taxes for local individuals. In April 1985 she moved to full-time work on the insurance side of the business, where she served the community until her retirement in December 2018. In retirement she continued to stay active, waiting tables at the Palmer Café and helping at Just Left Bar.
A lifelong woman of faith, Brenda was an active and faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, generously helping in the kitchen for church luncheons and preparing meals for new mothers. She was also a proud member of the Barnes Auxiliary for 45 years. Family was the center of her world. She faithfully cheered her children on at every game, meet, and match, and later extended that same proud support to her grandchildren at their soccer games, basketball games, dance events, and all their activities.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Willis “Gene” and Norma Flear, and her sister, Ramona Hiesterman. She is survived by her husband, Dewain Reith of Linn; son Brandon Reith of Wichita; daughter Holly (Chris) Duskin of Hutchinson; grandchildren Ian, Noah, and Macy Duskin of Hutchinson; aunts Darleen Holle of Riley and Bernita Rothlisberger of Simi Valley, California; and many beloved in-laws, goddaughters Tina and Sarah Meier, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered for her deep love of family and church, and for the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone around her.
