Brenda Joan Axtell, affectionately known as Joan, was born on February 7, 1957, in Hallettsville, Texas. A dedicated retired secretary, she brought warmth and compassion to everyone she met. Known for her generous spirit and genuine care for others, Joan touched the lives of friends and strangers alike with her kindness.
A vibrant member of Charis Church in Killeen, Texas, Joan lived her faith with quiet strength and served as an inspiration to many. She followed the Dallas Cowboys with passion, enjoyed coloring and crossword puzzles, and cherished her love of flowers. Above all, she had a special gift for making every moment with family and friends feel meaningful and cherished.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, John Axtell, of Killeen, Texas. She was the loving mother of her son, Johnny Thomas (Sara) Axtell of Austin, Texas, and her daughter, Stacy (Dathan) Dunson of Killeen. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren: Jeran, Tyler, Ravyn, Noah, and Lucy. She is also survived by her siblings, Dewayne Thompson of Barksdale, Texas; Lou Ethridge of Camp Wood, Texas; Sue Bates of Killeen, Texas; Jeanie Thompson of Killeen, Texas; and Twila Wimberly of Leaky, Texas.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, B.J. and Faye Dell Thompson, and her brother, David Thompson. Her loving presence, steadfast heart, and deep devotion to family will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
