Stanardsville, VA
Brenda Faye Shifflett, 66, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 16, 1959, in Charlottesville, Virginia, she was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Eva Collier, her brother Randel Dale Shifflett, and her nephew Bradley Crawford.
Brenda was known for her generous spirit and her unwavering love for others. Her home was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her heart made space for anyone who needed comfort, guidance, or simply a place to belong. She lived with courage and authenticity, often choosing paths of love, family, and unity when few others dared to do so. A true trailblazer, she shaped a family rooted in acceptance, resilience, and unconditional love.
She leaves behind three children: her daughter Natasha Shifflett, her son Shawn Shifflett (Shay Carter-Shifflett), and her daughter Crystal Shifflett. She was a proud grandmother to Raheem Shifflett (Emily), Nayante Carter, Nariyana Shifflett, Shawn Shifflett Jr., and Messiah Shifflett, and a loving great-grandmother to Kali Shifflett and Riley Shifflett. She is also survived by her beloved sister Marilyn Sullivan, brother Ronnie Shifflett (Carolyn), sister Evelyn Kirby (Barry), special cousin Kathy Cheek (Timmy), and many other cherished family members, cousins, a niece, two nephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Brenda’s children and grandchildren wish to extend a special thank you to her big sister Marilyn, who cared for her with extraordinary love and devotion for more than twenty years.
