She was the wife of James R. Pierson. They celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in June 2025. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was a daughter of the late Coleman and Dorothy (Rudy) Funk. She received her bachelor's degree from Lebanon Valley College and her master's degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. Brenda was a school teacher and taught 7th grade math for over 25 years in Cobb County, Georgia. Mrs. Pierson was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Allentown, where she was a member of the altar guild, was an usher and a greeter. She also visited the homebound of the church. Brenda was a member of the Emmaus Garden Club and received several awards for the flowers that she grew. She was an avid sports fan and especially cheering for the Eagles. Brenda loved to golf and play tennis.Survivors: Husband, Jim; Children: Lori E. Hall and her husband Ronald of Bluffton, SC, William Douglas "Doug" Hughes and his wife Carolyn Romanski of Tarpon Springs, FL, Scott Frederick Hughes and his wife Paula of Charlotte, SC; Step-sons: Glen James Pierson and his wife Karen of Downingtown, PA, John Scott Pierson and his wife Yolanda in Connecticut; Grandchildren: Ryan William Hall, Adam Freeman Hall, Carly Elizabeth Nessmith and her husband Cori; Step-grandchildren: Kelly Brond and her husband Danny, Kyle Pierson, Bryce Pierson, Aaron Pierson and Aiden Pierson; Great-grandchildren: Teddy James Nessmith, William Henry Nessmith; Step-greatgrandchildren: Leo and Eli Brond; Siblings: Georgieanne Jones (wife of the late Larry Jones), Dr. Coleman Funk and his wife Betty.Services: 10 am Friday, April 24, 2026, Nativity Lutheran Church, 4004 Tilghman St., Allentown PA 18104. There will be a visitation from 9 – 10 am Friday (4/24/26) in the church.
