Brenda Bernice (Wasson) Ruest 78, died March 7, 2026 at Caribou surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health. She was born in Fort Fairfield May 13, 1947 the daughter of the late Raymond and Geraldine (Miller) Wasson. She attended the Fort Fairfield schools and was employed as a cook at Cary Medical Center for over 33 years. Brenda married Ronald Ruest and he predeceased her March 25, 2020 after 53 years of marriage. Surviving are her daughters, Sherry Mockler Young and fiancé Jay Wright of Caribou, Rhonda Abercrombie and husband Spencer of Fort Worth, TX., and Michelle Hafford and husband Todd of Caribou. Three brothers, Charles Spurgeon Wasson of Paradise Valley, AZ., Randy Wasson and wife Wendy of Jacksonville, FL., and Ricky Wasson and wife Marianne of Caribou. Three sisters, Joyce Doody of Fort Fairfield, Shirley Drost of Presque Isle and Caroline Michaud of Bangor. Her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Pelkey and husband Josh, Mariah Butler and husband Taylor, Tylor Broome and special friend Crystal Drost of Caribou, great grandson, Camden Pelkey and great granddaughters Brooklyn and Layken Butler. Several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ruest was predeceased by siblings Roy Wasson and Janice Doughty, and a great grandson Blake Butler. A graveside service will be held at the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, at a date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home.
