Bonnie Powell

1943 — 2026

DeQuincy, LA

Bonnie Delight Powell was born on August 14, 1943, and passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 82. She is now reunited with her beloved late husband, Emmett “Buddy” Powell, her mother, Bessie Cooley, and her father, Daniel Cooley.

Known throughout her life for her kindness and generous spirit, Bonnie was always ready to help anyone in need. No visitor left her home without a warm welcome and an offering of a Coke, Hershey’s chocolate, bacon, toast, or a cup of coffee. She dedicated thirty years of service to the Ragley, Louisiana Post Office, where she worked with diligence and took quiet pride in her role in the community.

In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed hunting for treasures at garage sales to add to her cherished Coca-Cola collection. She loved sitting on her porch with a cup of coffee, visiting with neighbors and friends, tending her yard and garden where no weed stood a chance, and spending peaceful moments fishing in her pond.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Norma Cooley Puckett; her son, Greg “Petie” Powell and his wife, Helena Powell; and her daughter, Carrie “Patie” Clark and her husband, Doug Clark. She was a proud and devoted MawMaw to her grandchildren, Levi Powell and his wife, Kelsea Powell; Kaysie Janclaes and her husband, Chris Janclaes; Ashlei Thevenet and her husband, Jacques Thevenet; Kaitlyn Armstrong and her husband, Aaron Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews. She was lovingly known as Honey Bunny to her great-grandchildren, Halen Thevenet, Gabriel Powell, Emmilynn Thevenet, and Gunner “Buddy” Thevenet. Her warmth, generosity, and love for life’s simple joys will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
