October 15, 1943 March 8, 2026

Lena, IL

Bonnie Kay (Gahm) Guthrie, 82, of Lena, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Lena Living Center.

Born on October 15, 1943, in Freeport, Illinois, Bonnie was the daughter of Donald and Vivian (Kleckner) Otte. She graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1961 and completed her cosmetology training at Sterling Beauty School in March 1962. For many years she worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Lena Living Center and Parkview Nursing Home. Bonnie was known for cutting hair for family and friends at her home, graciously accepting fresh produce and homemade treats in return rather than payment.

A woman of deep faith, Bonnie was a longtime member of Salem Church and Zion Community Church, where she sang in the Ladies Quartet and participated in the Lend-A-Hand group. She and her family found great joy in serving their church community.

Bonnie is survived by her four children, Gregory Gahm, Matthew (Donna) Gahm, Angela Gahm, and Halvin (Staci) Gahm; her grandchildren, Dylan (Angelica) Gahm, Heidi (Ryan) Hoepner, Heather (Trevor) Sexton, Victoria Gahm, Kelli Mathews, Adam (Angie) Mathews, Kerri (Kevin) Maess, Halli and Brooke Gahm; and her great-grandchildren, Josiah, Gracelynn, and Gabriel Gahm, Ashton Hoepner, Haven Sexton, Cole and Nora Mathews, Ivy and Henry Maess, Makayla, Austin, Mya, Gionni, and Myles Mathews, and Grayson Heinrich. She is also survived by her two sisters, Patty (Robert) Noller and Pamela (Michael) Kalinosky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mahlon “Ed” Guthrie, and her daughter-in-law Kathy.
