Bonnie Jean Schaefer

Bonnie Jean Schaefer, 89, of Hanceville, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Hanceville Nursing Home. Born on June 22, 1936, to Max and Vada Mae Sullins Holland, she was a smart and artistic woman who found joy in drawing, painting, photography, sewing, cooking, and gardening. She took special pride in growing roses and entering them in the fair each year.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Arnold Schaefer; her son, Michael Laney (Melissa); her daughters, Paula Jean Hooven (Bill), Sandra June Martin (Brian), and Penny Diann Felton (Brian); her sisters, Jeanetta Palmer, Norma Holland Ransom, and Nora Dean; grandchildren Brandi Hicks, Daniel Holman, Billy Hooven, Jesse Hooven, Deshannon Burns, Elizabeth Laney, Patrick Laney, Mark Laney, Wesley Phillips, Matt Phillips, Tina Gilley, Joe Martin, and Molly Davis; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
