Bonnie Sheets ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Foust Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Bonnie Jean Sheets, 98, of Goldfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.Bonnie was born on December 22, 1927, to Wilson H. and Ivalie Stella (Wilhelm) Lewis. She grew up in the Goldfield area and spent nearly her entire life rooted in the community she loved.On November 23, 1946, Bonnie was united in marriage with Merle Evert Sheets at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they built a life in Goldfield where they farmed and raised their family until retiring in 1995.Bonnie's strong work ethic began early in life. Her first job was candling eggs, followed by work as a telephone switchboard operator. She later devoted many years to her family as a homemaker while supporting the family farm. As a longtime member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church and the Goldfield Legion Auxiliary, and as a devoted Music Mother and sports mother, she was always an enthusiastic supporter of Goldfield High School activities. Over the years she also served her community as owner of the Downtown Café in Goldfield and later worked as a certified nursing assistant in Clarion, continuing in that role until she was over 70 years old.Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was also known as a wonderful cook and took great joy in feeding those she loved. She will be fondly remembered for her warm heart and the way she cared for and prayed over those around her. Her family will always remember her kitchen filled with good food, her thoughtful letters and cards, her love of chocolate, and her daily morning Pepsi.She is survived by her four children: Karren J. Stephens of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Sandra K. Sheets, Tom M. (Claudia) Sheets, and Gary E. (Susan) Sheets, all of Goldfield, Iowa.She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Heather (Dan) Lukasik of Dubuque, IA, and Genevieve (Jeff) Clemens of Garner, IA; Andrea (Jeffrey) Fritz of Auburn, WA, and Leah (Dave) Hill of Woodbury, MN; Amy Nesdahl of Chaska, MN, and Jacob (Becky) Sheets of Lawton, IA; and Lisa Sheets (fiancé Paul Esqueda) of Fresno, CA.Her legacy continues through her great grandchildren: Hailie Lukasik; Jason, Lily, and Hudson Clemens; Ryan and Aaron Fritz; Harrison Hill; Samuel and Jackson Nesdahl; Allison (Anthony Franck), Katelyn, and Benjamin Sheets; and Sidney and Grace Sheets.Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Merle; siblings Virgil Lewis, Naomi Fawcett, Glen Lewis, Iris Bisher, Marjorie Schauer, and Wilson "Louie" Eugene Lewis; her son-in-law Dean Stephens; infant grandson Blaine Stephens; and grandson Levi Sheets.Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Goldfield United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Goldfield Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church basement.Bonnie will be remembered for her warm heart, her steady presence, and the way she cared for those around her. Her family will forever cherish the many memories made around her table - where there was always good food, a piece of chocolate nearby, and a morning Pepsi close at hand.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
