Bonney Barron

Bonney Barron

March 20, 1946 March 10, 2026

Easley, SC

Bonney Sue Barron (Wagner), 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on March 20, 1946, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, to Quentin and Reba (Mock) Wagner, she grew up in Youngwood, Pennsylvania, alongside her parents and older brother Richard Wagner.

An excellent student, Bonney was a majorette throughout high school and went on to earn an Associate’s degree in Nursing. She began her career as a Labor and Delivery nurse, serving for 45 years in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. She took great joy in supporting women and families through some of life’s most meaningful and sometimes most difficult moments. She mentored many new nurses and spent the later part of her career educating her peers.

Bonney was first married to the late Richard Bernard for 17 years, and together they had three daughters: Lesley Ann Kirkpatrick, Jennifer Kerr (Aaron Kerr), and Corey Bittner (Robin Bittner). She later shared a chance meeting with John Barron, a longtime acquaintance, which blossomed into more than 35 years of marriage. She became a loving bonus mom to his daughters, Joni Keller (Ray Keller) and Bridget Kerchner.

She had a deep love for her family, lighting up with every new grandchild or great-grandchild. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and plants with a green thumb, and crocheting blankets for loved ones as well as hats for NICU babies long after her retirement. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of Grace Chapel Church in Sanford, North Carolina, where she helped with events, hosted Bible studies, served as the “social director” of her Sunday school class, and welcomed friends with soup parties at her home. She most recently attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, South Carolina.

Bonney is survived by her husband John, their blended family of five daughters, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six nieces, four nephews, and their families. She and John shared a steadfast bond through life’s joys and challenges, remaining devoted soulmates to the end. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
