Bonita Jean "Bonnie" Gallagher

Bonita Jean “Bonnie” Gallagher, 79, of Lititz, formerly of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Miriam (Zettle) Kauffman. She shared more than fifty-five years of marriage with her husband, John D. Gallagher, until his passing in 2023.

Bonnie earned two bachelor’s degrees in education and taught as an elementary school teacher for over thirty years. She cherished her life with John, traveling together and enjoying the outdoors. She took great pride in her garden, found joy in sewing and painting, and loved hiking and riding her bicycle. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, John Thomas Gallagher (Paula) of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Micah Jed Gallagher (Heather) of Conestoga, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Hannah, Matthew, Logan, and Austin Gallagher; her brother, Tom Kauffman (Nancy) of Lewistown; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Petrone (Bill) of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
