She was born October 21, 1939 to Crisp George Johnson and Hilda Louise Johnson in Cordele, Georgia. She became a teacher and taught at Calhoun Falls High School in South Carolina.Bonita is survived by stepchildren, Kyle Cochran (Lee Ann) of Ellijay, Kristy Darby (Darrel) of Jasper; grandchildren, Kali Lambert (Bailey) of Ellijay, Eli Cochran (Cora) of Ellijay, Jake Ratcliff (Alex) of Jasper, Jessica Hutson (Hunter) of Jasper, Caitllin Word (Dalton) of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Dixie Hutson, Jonah Smith, Faith Hutson, Ben Hutson, Lawson Lambert, Carly Ratcliff, Ronan Word; special niece, Cathy Green (Mike) of Holly Springs; and special nephew, Hal Johnson. Several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Doyle Cochran and brother, George H. Johnson.Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park.The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.The service will be live streamed at roperfuneralhome.com.
