He is survived by: his wife Zelma Shepherd; his children, Carolynn Ellis of Pinellas, Marilynn Shepherd of Sparta, Dorothy Kimball of Hudson, FL, Robert Lewis Shepherd II (Celeste) of St. Petersburg, FL and Tyler W. Shepherd (Joanna) of Clearwater, FL; and his brothers, Roscoe Shepherd of Hurricane Hills, KY and James McClure of Shepherdsville, KY. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Sparta Cemetery Memorial Park.
