Bobby Joe Jackson, a man whose steady presence was the cornerstone of his family, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on May 9, 1957, in Ripley, Mississippi, Bobby Joe's life was a testament to the quiet strength and unwavering love that defined him from the very beginning. It seemed no coincidence that he arrived in this world on Mother's Day, for his life was deeply intertwined with a unique tapestry of maternal care. Having two older sisters who lavished him with affection and guidance, Bobby Joe grew up surrounded by nurturing forces that shaped his gentle and forgiving nature. His personality was characterized by an easygoing spirit and a great sense of humor—a combination that endeared him to all who knew him. Patient and understanding, he was the calming anchor for his family, the glue that held them together through every storm and celebration.Bobby Joe's career was distinguished by his role as a team lead at Caterpillar, where he retired after years of dedicated service. But beyond the workplace, his passions spoke volumes about the man he was: cars and hunting were lifelong loves, pursuits that brought him joy and a sense of connection to the world around him.His home life was filled with deep, abiding love shared with his wife of 37 years and lifelong best friend, Sharon Jackson. Together, they built a life rooted in mutual respect and companionship. His sisters, Nylene Dowdy and Charlene Keith, remained pillars in his life, alongside his special nieces and nephews, Angie Karstens (Brett), Steven Dowdy (Tina), Kylie Jones (Donnie), and the next generation— special great nieces and nephews, Noah Watson (Rachel), Dalton Karstens, Grace Karstens, and Ty Dowdy—each one carrying forward the legacy of his kindness , humor and endless doting. He was also loved by other Hopper and Jackson relatives, a host of friends, including his long-time hunting buddies, his cousin, Deryl Cossitt and friend, Mark English, who will remember his warmth and steady hand.Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his devoted father, Q.T. Jackson; his mother, Opal Hopper Jackson; and brother-in-law, Gene Dowdy. He was also preceded by his cat, Thunder—a companion so singular in his heart that it was said she truly was HIS cat.Bobby Joe Jackson's story is one of patience, laughter, unfailing love, his quit strength and his faith and love for the Lord—a steadfast beacon within his family, community and his church. As they remember him, it is clear that his spirit's calming force will resonate through generations, a lasting testament to a remarkable man who found joy in the simple gifts of life and devoted himself fully to those he loved. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to Walnut Methodist Church or Alcorn County Animal Shelter. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Bobby Joe Jackson.
