He spent his early years growing up in a Christian home and was educated in the Elizabeth City Public School System before relocating to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia in his early adult life, where he built a life defined by hard work, dedication, and community.Bobby worked in various fields before discovering his passion while employed at W.D. Sam's Plumbing. He went on to become a master plumber for more than 60 years - a career that reflected both his exceptional skill and his deep commitment to helping others. A true country boy at heart, Bobby was quick-witted, never at a loss for words, and had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether assisting neighbors, working on a project, or lending a helping hand, he found joy in staying busy - often happiest while working on something in the yard.He was a faithful member of Welcome Community Church and carried his faith with him throughout his life. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including good food, playing the lottery, and spending time with those he cared about. Bobby will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, practical wisdom, sharp humor, and the quiet kindness he showed through his actions. His faith grounded him, guided him, and remained a steady presence throughout his life.Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Ruben Etheridge and Geneva Etheridge; his son, Keith Etheridge; and ten siblings.He shared a special and meaningful companionship with Mary E. Scott, his very special life partner. He is survived by his sister: Marie Bowe; his children: Darry Etheridge; Michael Etheridge (Sherrie); Robert Etheridge (Jennifer); Wilson Etheridge; Curtis Etheridge (Shannon); Dwight Etheridge (Joyce); Jamil Whaki (Lindell); Elvira Etheridge; Angela Nelson (Timothy); and Joyce Smith (Donald); his adopted sons, Thomas Williams (Kim), Terrence Williams, and Timothy Williams; 34 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with a host of other loved ones and dear friends.Bobby's life was one of dedication, resilience, and quiet generosity. He leaves behind lasting memories in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.The family of Bobby Etheridge wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
