May 16, 1949— February 21, 2026
Streamwood, IL
Bobby E. Davis passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, February 21, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. After a courageous battle with health challenges, he left behind a legacy of grace, compassion, and quiet strength.
Born on May 16, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Mary E. Davis and Theodore Talley, Bobby graduated from Shortridge High School. He later moved to Streamwood, Illinois, where he earned an associate degree from Elgin Community College and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
His professional life reflected his natural gifts for leadership and mentorship. During a 20-year career with AT&T, he advanced from Training Manager to a supervisory role, traveling widely to develop future leaders. In retirement, he continued to work as a Training Manager with Target Corporation and, drawn by his love of people, became a barista at Starbucks, where his warm personality and quick mind endeared him to colleagues and customers alike.
Faith anchored Bobby’s life. A devoted member of Trinity CME, he served joyfully as an usher and as a member of the church choir, living his beliefs through action and community. He was known for the spark he brought to every gathering, his skill in the kitchen, and the memorable meals he prepared for family and friends. A gifted dancer with impeccable style, he carried himself with a dignity that inspired others and influenced the fashion sense of many who knew him. Above all, he was the steady rock for his family, a patient listener and source of gentle, wise counsel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother, Sylvester E. Baker. Bobby is survived by Mr. Randall Rector; his siblings, Gwendolyn Anderson, Teresa Bledsoe (Donald), Vincent Baker, and Theodore Talley (Shannon); first cousins Angela Holman (Dale), Pamela Bennett (Bruce), Cecelia Murphy (Gary), Keith Cole, and Dean Cole (Ruth); godchildren Olivia Bennet and Gary Cole; and a host of nieces, nephews, foster brothers, cousins, and friends who were fortunate to call him their own. His love and sincere affection will live forever in their hearts.
