May 12, 1937— March 14, 2026
Hot Springs, AR
Bob V. Compton, age 88, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on March 14, 2026. Born on May 12, 1937, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Coye and Duffy Compton, Bob proudly served in the United States Army in Germany before earning a master’s degree in education. He devoted his career to guiding and encouraging students as a counselor at Mountain Pine School, where he left a lasting impact on countless young lives.
On August 23, 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Margaret Duren. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and soon-to-be great-grandfather, Bob cherished time with his grandchildren, teaching them U.S. history facts, the names of presidents, and how to count money. He found joy in playing golf and bowling, and remained an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Those who knew him will remember his steady faith, kind heart, and generous spirit.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Coye and Duffy Compton, his brothers Charles and Tom, and his sister Jeanne. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Compton; his children, Pam (Robert), Brian (Leigh), and Todd (Amber); his seven grandchildren, Samantha (Dalton), Zach, Jeff, Alex, Ava, Aimsley, and Asa, with one great-grandchild on the way; his twin sister Betty Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob’s life was a testament to faith, love, and devotion to his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort in the promise of eternal life and the hope of being reunited with him again.
