Blanche Thomas

1919 — 2026

Graceville, FL

Blanche Thomas, 107, of Graceville, Florida, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. Born on February 13, 1919, in Geneva County, Alabama, to the late Jesse W. and Lucy Hall Hinson, she lived a life marked by remarkable strength, faith, and quiet dignity.

Those who knew Blanche described her as truly one of a kind. She lived through the Great Depression, World War II, and a century of profound change, yet what defined her was not the history she witnessed but the grace, determination, and optimism with which she met every day. For decades she tended beautiful flower beds and vegetable gardens, growing tomatoes that neighbors still remember fondly. Independent and disciplined, she maintained a daily routine of riding a stationary bike each morning for more than twenty years, even into her seventies. Her home was a place of warmth and steady faith, where she welcomed family and friends with kindness and her legendary peanut brittle. She loved her church, valued people deeply, and carried herself with quiet dignity, never missing her regular Friday beauty shop appointments.

Blanche is preceded in death by her husband, Carlie Thomas; stepson, Kenneth Thomas; her parents; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many cherished friends. Her life left a lasting imprint on her community, and she will be remembered for her hard work, unwavering faith, and the gentle wisdom she shared with all who knew her.
