Billy C. Scott
August 30, 1942— March 10, 2026
Rochester Hills, MI
Billy C. Scott, of Rochester Hills, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 30, 1942, in Vevay, Indiana, Billy was the son of Clara Chase and Herschel Scott. He grew up in Rising Sun, Indiana, where he formed lifelong friendships and values that remained with him always. At 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably for eight years.
His greatest joy was his beloved wife, Marianne. Their love story began on a double date when Marianne was paired with Billy’s friend and he with hers. The group playfully decided to switch dates and kiss, and in that moment, something instantly clicked. They married soon after and shared 65 wonderful years together in Rochester Hills, filled with travel, laughter, and cherished family traditions.
Billy was a devoted father to James, Michelle, Mark, Kim, Helene, and the late John “Butch.” He was a cherished grandfather to Kyle (Gabby) and Zakarey (Brystal), and a proud great-grandfather to Tristan, Luna, John, and Alfie. He took special delight in spending time with his grandchildren, cheering them on, sharing laughs, and creating lasting memories. Supporting his grandson’s competitive bowling and traveling to tournaments brought him particular happiness.
He is also survived by his loving sister, Darlene (Howard) White, and many nieces and nephews he treasured. He was preceded in death by his siblings Betty (Darryl), Charles (Joanne), Jesse Jr., Aaron, and Earl.
Billy’s sharp wit and playful spirit defined him. He loved making people laugh and could brighten any room with a clever remark. He and Marianne often hosted friends for cards and meals, filling their home with warmth and lively conversation. In later years, his humorous habit of replying to nearly anything Marianne asked with “In a minute” became a beloved family joke.
He enjoyed animals, family cookouts, camping, golfing, croquet, go-kart racing, poker, and especially bowling. He and Marianne shared a love of game shows and traveled together to Las Vegas, Reno, and Laughlin. Annual traditions meant the world to him, from celebrating Paczki Day in Hamtramck to hosting the family-and-friends Labor Day camping weekend in their large yard, where tents, food, games, music, and laughter created joyful memories for all.
Billy will be remembered for his infectious laughter, quick humor, and the deep love he shared with Marianne and his family. His legacy of warmth, devotion, and unforgettable moments will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
