January 13, 1967— March 9, 2026
Denham Springs, LA
Billie Ronnie McCartney Jr., 59, of Denham Springs, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026, following a five-year battle with kidney cancer. Born on January 13, 1967, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, he was raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Lee High School in 1985. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2011. Billie built his life and legacy in Denham Springs, the community he proudly called home.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Billie married Joy Marie Hebert McCartney on August 9, 2002, in Livingston Parish. The couple first met at Rick and Robin’s club when Billie asked Joy to dance and she replied by asking if he knew how to jitterbug. He did, and their life together began that night. He is survived by his wife, Joy McCartney; his children, Bailea McCartney, Francanna McCartney, Heather McCartney, Jeremy Robin, and Jennifer McCartney; and his grandchildren, Carly Robin, Blazzin Robin, Jaxston Robin, Cali Robin, and Saylor Chauvin. He is also survived by his siblings: Johnny Saucier (Linda), Janet McCartney, Michelle Acosta, Gerald McCartney, Wendy Doubleday, Lesa Doubleday, Donald Doubleday, Winnie Sonnier (Johnny), Rebecca Richard (Kenneth), Denean Joubert (Douglas), Karina Sonnier, and April McCartney Thomas (Eric).
Billie was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, where he served in Catechesis religious education and as a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a founding member of Krewe Bras Moi Chue and a dedicated member of the Krewe of Denham Springs, holding numerous leadership roles and being honored in 2026 as the Krewe’s Honorary King. He coached his daughters’ softball and soccer teams and was known throughout the community as a true people person who never met a stranger. Billie loved entertaining, cooking, carpentry, home renovations, cake decorating, floral arranging, and wood whittling. His favorite place was the patio at home, where friends and family gathered for food, laughter, LSU football, and the company of his dogs Lily and Ray.
He was a gentle giant—fun-loving, faithful, loyal, and a man of his word—who cherished faith, honesty, hard work, and treating others with kindness. Family traditions were sacred to him, especially the “pajama run” when he would gather everyone in pajamas for ice cream on difficult days. Billie is preceded in death by his parents, Billie Ronnie McCartney Sr. and Jerry Louise Daigle Doubleday, stepparents Anna McCartney and Donald Doubleday, niece J’Lyn McCartney, and brothers-in-law Eddie Acosta and Blane Sonnier. He leaves behind not only his family but a community of friends who were always welcomed as family in his home.
