Billie Lee Gibson, age 92, of Goodrich, passed away on March 7, 2026. He was born on June 18, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, the son of John E. Gibson and Irene (Swallows) Gibson. A graduate of Dye High School, Billie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Anna Tappy on January 21, 1956, in Angola, Indiana; she preceded him in death on November 16, 2019. Billie retired from GM (AC) in 1992 after 29 years of service.
He was a devoted NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race, watching intently through every crash and turn. A lifelong University of Michigan supporter, he remained loyal to the Wolverines through every season. For more than 25 years, Billie and Ann spent their winters in Gold Canyon, Arizona, where he founded a popular weekly golf group at Queen Valley Golf Course. There he formed many close friendships and enjoyed daily socializing with Jerry and Jeannie, Tom and Mary, Mark O., Kenny, Marilyn, Trish, Marie, and Jan, who cherished their time together and cared for him in his later years.
Billie is survived by his four children, Pamela (Robert) Canter, Patrick Beck (Amy Smallidge), Sherrie Gibson, and Lee Ann (Scott) Holland; grandchildren Timothy (Lisa), Brad (Kelly), and Joshua (Hortense); great-grandchildren Olivia, Lizzy, and Emily; sisters Esther (David) Booth, Hilda Warnock, Peggy Gibson, and Carol Sue (Devereaux) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna, and his sister Mary Daig.
