October 8, 1933— March 9, 2026
Fort Worth, TX
Bill Serrault, the son of Ernest and Vera Serrault, was born in Salina, Kansas on October 8, 1933. A small-town boy at heart, he graduated from Salina High School in May of 1951 and went on to attend Kansas Wesleyan University, where he met the love of his life, Doris Shirack. They married on August 16, 1952, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than seven decades. Together they built a family grounded in love and unwavering commitment.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris, in 2024. He is survived by his three children—daughters Robin Serrault Waddell and her husband Allen, Ronda Serrault Webb and her husband Culpepper, and son Greg Serrault—as well as his six grandchildren, Taylor Webb (April), Jennifer Shaw (Andy), Lauren Klipfel (Ben), Amanda Guiffria (Christopher), Geoff Waddell (Kristi), and Michael Webb (Anabel), and his ten great-grandchildren.
From 1952 to 1956, Bill served in the United States Navy as a member of a PBM flight crew stationed in Japan. Upon returning, he began a 35-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Yellow Pages advertising salesman. Through dedication and strong leadership, he advanced to the role of General Marketing Manager for West Texas, based in Fort Worth, before retiring in 1991. He later served as Senior Vice President of the Harris Health Plan until his final retirement in 2001.
Deeply committed to the Fort Worth community, Bill chaired the boards of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Tarrant County United Way, the TCU Research Foundation, the Fort Worth Arts Council, and Harris Health System. He found great joy in his longtime association with Colonial Country Club, where he served on the Golf Tournament Sales Committee and played a key role in securing AT&T sponsorship for the 2018 Fort Worth Invitational. An avid golfer, he cherished rounds at Colonial—especially those shared with his son, Greg—along with memorable trips to play St. Andrews and attend the Masters. He also treasured evenings of gin rummy with friends and quiet moments with family, often accompanied by a glass of Old Charter bourbon.
Above all, Bill valued the relationships in his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, loyalty, and steadfast devotion to his family. His legacy of leadership, service, and friendship will endure in the many lives he touched.
