November 20, 1951— March 16, 2026
Bismarck, ND
Beverly J. Salter of Bismarck, aged 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 16, 2026, at Sanford Hospital.
Born on November 20, 1951, to George and Agnes (Lipp) Leingang, Beverly spent her early years in the countryside south of Solen before her family moved to Mandan. She later returned to the Solen area with her family but chose to remain in Mandan, where she graduated from Mandan High School.
On a blind date, she met the love of her life, David Salter. They married on August 3, 1973, and shared a devoted partnership of 52 years. Together they raised two children, Cory and Lynette, and built a loving home in Bismarck. Beverly worked for more than 30 years at Norwest Bank, later Wells Fargo, before retiring. In retirement she handled accounting for Farm & Home, where she enjoyed many conversations with her boss, Todd.
Beverly had a passion for collecting bells, amassing an extensive collection from nearly every state and numerous countries, many gathered during family trips or given by friends and relatives who knew of her interest. She enjoyed watching game shows, taking daily walks and sharing conversations with her daughter, and shopping for the latest trends while always dressing with quiet elegance. A woman of gentle strength, grace, and deep faith, she attended church every Sunday and was honored to serve as her granddaughter’s confirmation sponsor.
Above all, Beverly found her greatest joy in family. She cherished her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother, delighting in playing cards, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and creating memories at “Grandma’s Park,” the school playground near her home. She sent a daily “good morning” text to her grandkids and treasured family gatherings, picnics, branding days, and quiet visits over coffee with siblings and friends.
She is survived by her husband, David Salter; son, Cory Salter of Bismarck; daughter, Lynette (Scott) Simons of Baldwin; and her four beloved grandchildren, Danielle Salter, Alyssa Buckman, Jacelyn Simons, and Garrett Simons. She is also survived by her brother, Dale (Nancy) Leingang of Solen; sisters, Linda Gullickson of Mandan and Bernice (Donald) Schmidt of Bismarck; mother-in-law Aileen Salter of Bismarck; brothers-in-law John Salter of Fargo, Pat Salter and Mark Salter of Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald and John Leingang; nephews Rodney Leingang and Chris Salter; and niece Michelle Leingang.
