Beverly Jane Walters

January 20, 1939 March 8, 2026

Rockwall, TX

Beverly Jane Walters, born Beverly Jane Stooks on January 20, 1939, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 87. The oldest of seven children born to Wallace and Eleanor Stooks, she grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area. From an early age, Beverly formed friendships easily, excelled in school, and cherished time spent on her grandparents’ farm, where her lifelong love of horses began. Her grace, kindness, and inner strength were evident throughout her life. As a high school senior, she was crowned “Miss Siren” in a local fire department competition, reflecting her confidence, determination, and vibrant spirit. She faced more than 24 years with Parkinson’s disease with the same warrior-like grace, never complaining, and remained easy to love until the end.

At seventeen, Beverly met the love of her life, James H. Walters. They married on June 1, 1957, and shared 65 inseparable and loving years together. Together they raised four children, building a life centered on family, joy, and lasting memories. Beverly’s greatest priority was her family. She instilled in her children strong values, morals, a solid work ethic, and the importance of kindness and love. Gentle yet firm, light-hearted yet strong-willed, she loved deeply and held her family to a high standard, always encouraging them to strive for greatness.

In 1973, Beverly and James moved to Alpena, Michigan, where they owned and operated Mobility Sports Center, a motorcycle and snowmobile business. Beverly played a key role in managing daily operations and sales, and the entire family worked together, a experience her children later treasured. In 1982, they relocated to Rockwall, Texas, making it their home for over forty years. Beverly managed a motorcycle shop before joining the Dallas World Trade Center, where she oversaw a high-end furniture showroom until her retirement. She was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her.

Beverly was at her happiest when surrounded by family. Sunday dinners, gatherings, celebrations, and afternoons by the pool created cherished traditions for her children and grandchildren. She delighted in preparing her famous lemonade and desserts for everyone, as sweets were her favorite. A devoted wife and dedicated mother, she poured her heart into caring for those she loved.

She is survived by her children Patricia Walters, James Walters (Twyla), Kimberlee Walters-Sanders (Doug), and Lisa Sagnibene (Joe); honorary son Steve Mischloney; eleven grandchildren: Adam Coblentz, AJ Coblentz, Brianna Wilkes, Alora Wilkerson, J. Mason Sagnibene, Cody Sagnibene, J. Maxwell Walters, Haylee Hood, Jayden Sagnibene, Emilee Sanders, and Casen Sanders; seventeen great-grandchildren; and her surviving brothers Bryant Stooks, Russell Stooks, and David Stooks, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Walters, her parents Wallace and Eleanor Stooks, brother Allen Stooks, sisters Nancy McClary and Linda Lindquist, sister-in-law Jacqueline Stooks, brother-in-law Carl Lindquist, and nephew James (Jamie) Walters.
