A funeral service will be held on March 21, 2026 in Woodstock, VA with burial at Massanutten Cemetery immediately following.Mr. Mitchell served the transportation profession for his entire life in various capacities with both public transportation departments and private consulting firms. Over his career he designed, constructed, and operated traffic control systems throughout the country. His broad experience and practical approach to problems solving was valued by many organizations that he served.Mr. Mitchell was born December 14, 1944, in Roanoke, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Hottel Mitchell of Flowery Branch, GA; sons, Scott Mitchell (Dawn) of Hampton, VA and Glenn Mitchell (Elizabeth) of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Linda Mitchell (Nicolas Edmonds) of Simpsonville, SC; and step-daughter Cheryl Danielson (Jeffrey) of Land O Lakes, FL; as well as 8 wonderful grandchildren and 2 precious great-grandchildren.The family requests that donations be made to either Woodstock Christian Church, PO Box 521, Woodstock, VA or Buford Presbyterian Church, 1242 Buford Highway, Sugar Hill, GA.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
