St. Clair Shores, MI
Beverly Ann Palermino (née Szwed) passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Palermino. Beverly was a loving mother to Leonard Palermino (Maureen Palermino Murphy), the late Debra Palermino Connor (Donald), and the late Patrice Palermino (James Quell). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren Colin Connor (Erica), Matthew Garavaglia (Jessica), Caitlin Connor (Jason Schlaff), and Casey Palermino, and a cherished great-grandmother to Caroline, Jack, Matthew, and Madelyn. She was the dear sister of the late James Szwed, M.D. (Mary Kay) and is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
A compassionate and skilled nurse, Beverly cared for patients for many years at St. John Hospital in Detroit and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township. A proud graduate of Mercy College of Nursing, she was known as a trailblazer, becoming the first nurse at St. John Hospital to wear pants. Her deep and unwavering Catholic faith guided her life; she remained an active parishioner at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores for more than 40 years, where she found strength and community through prayer and service.
